Sounds Good! #7: "Music-based digital therapeutic to manage the neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia"
A weekly email on the power of music and audio
Hello friends!
After a slightly longer than anticipated break (my wife had a baby), I am back with the new and improved absolutely no improvements whatsoever to this newsletter. But in the spirit of ‘something is better than nothing’, here it is - and I and have some ideas to develop out this year…
Until then, here’s this week’s roundup of links:
Digital therapeutics startup LUCID released a study on the potential for a “music-based digital therapeutic to manage the neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia”.
The 18th NeuroMusic conference was held last month, and released many of the talks on their website - including this one which focuses on the power of rhythm in helping with speech and language disorders.
French start-up Mila has begun a test of its music-based application for children with dyslexia in partnership with Allianz France.
I stumbled across a video series called ‘Neuroscience for Musicians’ by Danny Li from the Johns Hopkins Center for Music and Medicine. There’s some great commentary in the introductory clip about how advances in technology are helping us understand the effect of music on the brain.
And finally…it’s been discovered that humans are not the only animals to sing duets.
Until next week!
